WE RECOVER AS MUCH PLASTIC WASTE FROM NATURE AS WE USE
We are now Certified Plastic Neutral! We've partnered with rePurpose Global to fund the collection and ethical processing of as much nature-bound plastic waste as we use in production and packaging. That means for every organic hair care shampoo or conditioner you purchase, we remove that same amount of plastic from the environment.
WHO IS REPURPOSE GLOBAL?
rePurpose Global is a social enterprise dedicated to empowering innovators on the frontlines of reducing waste, reviving lives, and restoring nature's balance. The plastic credit platform makes environmental action accessible for purposeful companies worldwide. Their one-stop solution empowers businesses like ours to go plastic neutral by financing plastic waste management and mitigation projects.
Since inception, rePurpose Global has created environmental impact for people across 26 countries and 100+ purposeful brands and provided benefits to 9,500+ marginalized waste workers and community members worldwide. Innersense Organic Beauty's mitigation project provides ethical wages for marginalized waste workers in Aurangabad, India.
PLASTIC NEUTRAL: REUSE, RECYCLE, REPURPOSE, EMPOWER
Innersense Organic Beauty's partnership with rePurpose Global directly supports plastic waste clean up efforts in Aurangabad, India. Here's why the Aurangabad project resonates with us:
- The project is focused on collecting and repurposing hard to recycle plastic waste. Low value plastics, like the plastic packaging found in chip bags or granola bar wrappers, are the most likely to be littered or burned. Why? Because there is no economic incentive to collect them. These flexible plastics and plastic products are often made of several layers of different types of plastic (and even aluminum!) and are extremely difficult to separate for recycling. The Aurangabad project incentivizes the collection of these low value plastics so less ends up polluting our natural environment
- The Aurangabad project uses the collected waste to power a cement plant, using waste as an alternative to coal, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and toxic chemicals that cause climate change.
- The Aurangabad project not only reduces the amount of plastic waste in the community but also transforms the lives of 700+ residents, including women waste pickers and their children, by providing education, electricity, insurance and health and sanitation facilities.
The Aurangabad project has diverted 44,795 kg of plastic from nature. That's equivalent to 2,986,333 plastic bottles or 3,732,917 pouches. The project aligns closely with our clean beauty values, and we are proud to empower women and communities in need while working to build a more sustainable future.
First Step: Plastic Neutral. Next Step: Lasting Impact
By contributing a revenue percentage of our clean beauty products to rePurpose Impact Project Aurangabad, we recognize the dire need for funding to be diverted to this ongoing emergency. We are proud to have taken our first step to facilitate long-term holistic impact.
Thank you for being at our side as we continue to mitigate our environmental impact, bottle by bottle. And know that your healthy hair journey is helping to reduce waste and restore Mother Earth's balance.
