Rice Proteins
Proteins Make Perfect
Rice water has been a beloved beautify ingredient in Asian cultures for centuries. It’s said female rice farmers in China, Japan and other Asian countries bathe in the water used to wash rice, which leads to their long, strong and beautiful hair. We’ve fallen in love with rice in many forms in our haircare formulas… Rice proteins are one of them.
Rice proteins deliver volumizing properties to the hair, and increase skin and hair’s ability to bind moisture. That means more shine! Rice proteins also increase hair’s flexibility, elasticity and tensile strength while reducing friction on the hair. Rice proteins are anti-irritant as well, and rice boasts a cooling and soothing effect on skin, so it’s ideal for calming the scalp.
You’ll find rice proteins in all of our shampoos and conditioners, plus:

Would some types hair be better off without protein? Are your products rich in protein or a balanced amount ? Do some have less ?
Thank you
Val
Hi Val,
So the topic of proteins is actually one with a lot of misinformation tied to it. Protein is not bad for the hair, it is only an issue when the protein being used in products is synthetic protein. We utilize protein from rice and quinoa which are in their natural states and are not destructive to hair. Our products are balanced with nourishing ingredients and are safe to use without the worry of protein.
Thank you!
What about low porosity hair that is protein sensitive (easily becomes overloaded with protein). Protein may be safe but it is not necessarily what every type of hair needs. What products do you have that do not contain protein?
Hi Elizabeth!
Our products use only plant proteins, which are gentler than traditional proteins on the hair! You may want to check out our Pure Harmony Hairbath and Pure Inspiration Daily Conditioner!
