Color Purity Overview

What are the names of the products?
  • Color Purity = Entire Collection/Brand
  • True Color = Permanent Color
  • Clean Developer = Developer
  • Pure Brilliance  = Powder Lightener and Creme Lightener
How many shades are in the range?

True Color includes 41 shades in total:

  • 32 fully intermixable shades
  • 5 fully mixable Intensifiers

  • Clean Developer comes in 5 volume levels. Available in 5 Volume (1.5%), 10 Volume (3%), 20 Volume (6%), 30 Volume (9%), and 40 Volume (12%) oxidizing emulsions.
What are the True Color tonal Families?

The shades are defined with a letter and a number. The number refers to the color depth level and range from 1 - 10 (12 indicates High Lift) and the tone is designated by a letter.

N- Natural
G- Gold
C- Copper
R- Red
M- Mahogany
V- Violet

What are the tones of the tonal families or shades?
  • NATURAL (N) TRUE NEUTRAL - Made without too much warmth or coolness, the Natural series delivers the perfect natural shade across all levels. When mixed with other shades, they can soften or subdue the tone.

  • ASH (A) COOL - Cooler than the Natural series, the Ash series is created with the perfect balance of gray/blue tone. Design to deliver the coolest, clean hues. The ash series is available in the following levels:

  • VIOLET (V) COOL- The Violet series is a blend of violet/gray tone to create a soft color result. Perfect for delivering the best buttery blondes. The violet series is available in the following levels:

  • MAHOGANY (M) COOL BROWN RED - The Mahogany series features a combination of intense Brown and Red/Violet tones for a rich, chocolate-brown result.

  • GOLD (G) WARM - This natural warm Gold series delivers brilliant golden hues without any brassiness.

  • COPPER (C) WARM- Our vibrant Copper series offers a radiant blend of Red and Gold.

  • RED (R) WARM- These super intense Red series offer vibrant, brilliant true red shades

  • WHITE PLUS - Add White to any shade to dilute the level and intensity for a  customized color.
What is the color depth comparable to US or European standards?
  • Hair color levels are the same but the naming between level 5  - level 7 can be different. For example some color companies tout level 6 as a dark blonde while others call level 7 as dark blonde. It is important when formulating to assess, diagnose and formulate using the Color Purity swatches for an accurate result.
What is different about 2MD dyes?
  • Traditionally most hair color lines are made with PPD (Paraphenylenediamine) as the main coloring agent. PPD is the most common cause of allergic reactions to hair color and reactions can range from slight irritation to contact dermatitis in more sensitive individuals. PTD is a newer replacement in the last 40 years that is less irritating but still has high incidence of irritation. 2MD is a newer dye innovation that has much lower rates of irritation compared to PPD and PTD.
What are the High Lifts in our True Color Shades?

12N, 12V and 12A are our High Lift Shades and they are a shade that has no level associated with them, just tone and they are designed to provide maximum lift and control of underlying pigment.

Is the True Color multi-tonal or opaque?

Our multi-tonal color achieves a natural look, mirroring the highs and lows found in natural hair. The soft grow-out creates a seamlessly blended transition, ensuring a gentle line of demarcation line on regrowth.

How do you create a demi- permanent shade?
  • The True color collection can create permanent results and demi-permanent results from a single tube of color.

  • For Demi-permanent results utilize 5 volume mixed in a 1:2 ratio and process for 5 to 20 minutes. This is a visual development.
How do you create a permanent shade with True Color?

For permanent results utilize 10 vol - 40 volume Clean Developer mixed in a ratio of 1:1 for 35 minutes or up to 45 minutes for resistant gray coverage.

Do I need to mix in naturals to gold, copper or red for full gray coverage?

No! Our tonal series have high pigment loads which allow for full gray coverage without mixing naturals.

Can I achieve full gray coverage with True Color?

Yes, you can achieve full gray coverage with our True Color Shades, when mixed with our Clean Developer 20 Volume (6%) and 30 Volume (9%). On depths 9 or lighter, you will achieve a more blended gray coverage result, due to low contrast between the naturally lighter depth and the gray/white hair. You do not need to add a Natural Shade to achieve gray coverage, however you can add a natural when you would like to mute the tone and achieve a more natural result or opacity.

What is the processing time?
  • Processing time will be based on the developer and color service. Refer to your usage guide. Processing time for a permanent color service utilizing 10 volume, 20 volume, 30 volume or 40 volume is 35 minutes.
  • Processing time for a gray coverage service utilizing 20 volume & 30 volume is 35 to 45 minutes (based on hair type).
  • Processing time for a demi-permanent service utilizing 5 volume is 5 - 20 minutes,, think a visual processing time
  • Processing time for a demi-permanent service utilizing 10 volume is 25 minutes
Will color continue to process after 35 minutes?
  • No, our color is not progressive and will not continue after recommended development time.
How many applications will I get from one tube of color?

True Color comes in a 3.3oz / 100ml tube. Our standard mixing ratio is 1:1. Depending on your clients density and regrowth, and based on a 1 - 2oz application, one tube of True Color will provide 2 - 3 re-touch applications.

How much intensifier can you add to a shade?

There is no limit to how much can be used in a formula. Our Intensifiers act like any other True Color Shade, and you will need to account for their weight in your color formula. For example if your formula is:  5g 6R + 5g RR + 10 Volume Clean Developer, your mixing ratio is 1:1. The total amount  of Clean Developer would be 10g.
