Retail & E-Commerce Marketing Manager
We are looking for a Retail & E-Commerce Marketing Manager who understands that great marketing doesn't stop at the brand level — it has to live on the shelf, on the screen, and on the page. This role is the connective tissue between our brand strategy and the channels where consumers buy: Ulta, Credo, Amazon, our owned website, and a growing roster of domestic and international retailers.
Reporting to the Director, Brand Marketing, you will own the marketing strategy and execution for our retail and e-commerce ecosystem. You are equally comfortable shaping the messaging on a product detail page, planning a semi-annual Ulta visual merchandising reset, and briefing a retailer co-branded campaign. You move fast, follow through, and bring the same care to the details as you do to the big picture.
What You’ll Do
Website & DTC Ownership
Own the marketing communications strategy for the Innersense owned website, our most important direct-to-consumer channel: ensure the homepage, product pages, about sections, and all supporting pages carry the right messaging, hierarchy of information, and on-brand visual assets.
Lead the brand refresh of the website including product detail pages, homepage, and supporting pages, ensuring the brand story, core pillars, and product portfolio are communicated with clarity and conviction.
Partner with Digital, who own site UX/UI, features, and the platform, to optimize site performance: conversion, merchandising, and promotional strategy.
Shape email and SMS campaign strategy and messaging for the DTC channel, partnering with Digital’s channel owners on execution to drive engagement and conversion across the consumer lifecycle.
Manage promotional programming and seasonal campaigns for the DTC channel.
Retail Trade Marketing
Serve as the marketing lead for key retail accounts including Ulta, Credo Beauty, Detox Market, Beauty Heroes, and a broad network of independent retailers domestically and internationally.
Develop and execute retailer-specific marketing campaigns, brand collaborations, and merchandise-driven initiatives tailored to each account's audience and platform.
Partner with the Retail Sales team to build tiered marketing programs that support account priorities, drive sell-through, and grow brand visibility in-store and online.
Own and manage B2B retailer communications including trade newsletters, new product launch toolkits, and retailer-facing sell-in materials.
Support the marketing needs of international retail expansion, including Ulta Mexico and Middle East accounts, adapting domestic programs for new markets.
Visual Merchandising
Own all visual merchandising strategy and execution for retail — Innersense's most tangible in-store brand expression.
Lead twice-annual planogram resets with Ulta, which serve as the foundation for VM across all other retail accounts.
Brief and manage the Creative team on all VM deliverables — fixtures, signage, shelf graphics, display units — ensuring on-brand execution at every retail touchpoint.
Continuously evaluate and evolve VM strategy to maximize impact, product visibility, and conversion at shelf.
Amazon & Retail Dotcom
Manage marketing for the Innersense Amazon storefront in coordination with our external Amazon agency, Retail Sales, and Digital teams.
Own the content and creative pipeline for Amazon: A+ content, brand store, product imagery, and copy — ensuring brand consistency and conversion optimization.
Oversee retail dotcom content across Ulta.com, Credo, and other retail partner sites — managing product listings, imagery, copy, and campaign assets.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with the Marketing, Retail Sales, Digital, Creative, and Education teams to ensure channel strategies are aligned, briefed, and executed on time.
Partner with the Brand Director and Creative team to ensure all retail and e-commerce assets are on-brand and on-strategy.
Serve as the primary marketing liaison for the Retail Sales team, translating commercial priorities into compelling marketing programs.
Feed retail and DTC plans (retailer promos, Ulta resets, seasonal moments) into the GTM Deck and the official marketing calendar owned by the Integrated Marketing & Communications Manager.
Bring clarity, accountability, and excellent follow-through to every cross-functional project — you are the person everyone knows will get it done.

What You Bring
Experience
4-6 years of experience in retail marketing, trade marketing, or e-commerce marketing — ideally within beauty, personal care, wellness, or CPG.
Proven track record managing retailer relationships from a marketing perspective, including major beauty retailers such as Ulta, Sephora, Target, or similar accounts.
Hands-on experience managing DTC website content and e-commerce merchandising — you've owned a product page and know what makes it convert.
Familiarity with Amazon as a marketing channel: A+ content, brand store management, and agency coordination.
Experience leading visual merchandising programs, planogram development, or in-store activation for a retail-distributed brand.
Skills & Strengths
Omnichannel thinker: you understand how the brand story needs to flex from a homepage hero to a shelf talker to an Amazon listing — and you make it work in every context.
Keen eye for messaging, branding, and visual presentation — you will push back on anything that doesn't represent the brand well.
Strong project management skills with exceptional follow-up and follow-through — you manage multiple workstreams without letting things fall through the cracks.
Highly collaborative and comfortable working across commercial, creative, and digital teams with equal fluency.
Clear, direct communicator — both written and verbal — who keeps stakeholders informed and projects moving.
Blend of strategic and executional: you can write a channel strategy and then roll up your sleeves to execute it.
Deep affinity for clean beauty or purpose-driven brands.
Bonus Points
Experience supporting international retail expansion or localization of marketing programs.
Familiarity with Shopify, Klaviyo, or similar DTC and email platforms.
Background working with retailer marketing portals (Ulta Connect, Credo brand portals, etc.).
This is a regular, full-time, salaried, in-office position located at our headquarters in Walnut Creek, California.
Target Salary Based on Experience
The standard range for this position is $105,000 - 115,000 per year, plus bonus
Compensation offered will be determined by factors such level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and competitive bonus achievement. Certain roles may be eligible for variable compensation and benefits.
